Making Connections "Crazy Dangerous"
Crazy Dangerous is a book that I recently started and is written in first person, but I'm far enough in to notice some of the themes. One main thing that keeps coming up is to find courage. In the book I'm reading it's about a boy named Sam who is sixteen and is a preacher's kid that wants to fit in. He was bullied a lot, but one day he stood up the the three guys who were bulling him. The fact that he did that impressed one of them named Jeff. He ended up asking if Sam wanted to join their little gang. Sam, without thinking right, agreed. He ended up a rough crowd and did some things he regretted. One day he saw something in his dad's room. "DO RIGHT FEAR NOTHING. Was written on a little statue on the desk." (67) This gave Sam some of the courage to stand up to his oppressors who he had befriended for a short time. Before Sam went and talked to the guys he was very contradicted in his head. "If you are afraid, how are you suppose to turn it off?" (68) That was one of the things that was going through his head before he made the right decision.
